Information Technology Authority

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) was established in Oman by Royal Decree No. 52/2006 on May 31, 2006, as an autonomous legal entity. Its primary mission was to implement the Digital Oman Strategy, focusing on enhancing the nation’s information technology infrastructure and promoting e-government initiatives.

In October 2019, the ITA’s responsibilities were transferred to the newly formed Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT). This restructuring aimed to streamline the governance of transport, communications, and information technology sectors under a single ministry.
